DHR and Hickory Motor Speedway have a longstanding history that dates back to the 90s. Hickory is a place where Dwight Huffman built the DHR roots.
With drivers of Tommy Ellis, Pete Silva, Dexter Canipe, and now the new generation of drivers with Clark Houston, Joey Braun, DJ Canipe, and the veterans of Bub Haney, Tim Dale, and Chris Phipps, Hickory has been a significant track for the race team. It's a place where champions have been crowned, history has been made, and stars have been born. After spending the past few seasons touring with the Southeast Super Trucks, Ashley Huffman and DHR decided to make a shift for 2023. The team returns to their former stomping grounds for a full-time campaign at Hickory Motor Speedway.
The racing season begins this evening at 6:00pm ET for a night full of racing. Clark Houston will drive the Alps Mtn. Affordable Hearing #6 Late Model Stock Car alongside teammate Joey Braun in the DHR #41 for a pair of twin 40-lap races. Additionally, Bub Haney and Chris Phipps will take their run at Pro Late Model competition for 100 laps in the Carolina Pro Late Model Series. For Phipps, this will be his first start in a Pro Late, and first race with a brand-new partner of his for 2023: New River Building Supply. Bub Haney has one start in the Pro car, dating back exactly one year to the first race of 2022 at Hickory. Gage Austin will also be running in the Renegade division for 20 laps.
HOW TO WATCH
Coverage from Hickory Motor Speedway will begin just before 6:00pm on FloRacing. However, the CPLMS 100-lap race will be streamed on Pit Row TV. Fans are encouraged to attend in person, if able, to watch one of the most highly anticipated race seasons at Hickory in recent years! Grandstands open at 4:00pm ET.
